​​The Patented LightAway system is the first and only dynamic lighting wayfinding control system that integrates existing or new smart building systems to communicate with the building occupants and first responders during an emergency. This communication occurs through visual identification of the current building status via color capable overhead lighting. LightAway integrates with a diverse range of facility systems due to its flexibility and customizability and provides rapid response to life safety issues. The LightAway technology does not require human intervention to help direct occupants to a safe egress path in the event of an emergency. 

Key LightAway Functions

• LightAway integrates Fire Alarm Systems, Guardian Gunshot Detection, IP Cameras, Emergency Panic Buttons, Door Lock Systems, and many other new and existing smart building systems.
• LightAway responds to emergencies within seconds. Once an emergency is detected, the LightAway system automatically directs building occupants to the safest exit via color capable overhead LED lights or directs other actions such as shelter in place as prescribed by the site-specific emergency action plan.
• When integrated with Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection and a gunfire event occurs, the LightAway system instantly communicates the situation to the building occupants via the color capable overhead lighting and directs occupants to the safest egress within seconds. All while this is occurring, LightAway will automatically call 911, communicate to first responders as to what entrances are safe for ingress, and provide a last shot location identification.
• The LightAway system acts as a standard lighting control system incorporating energy management functions and color tuning when not in emergency mode.
• The color capabilities of the LightAway system can be used for general wayfinding such as for directing occupants to sporting events or an auditorium when not in emergency mode.

Building Systems Analysis

As a component of the System design package, VS Energy provides an existing building systems survey to determine how the LightAway system can benefit the customer's facility. This comprehensive survey is the first step of the engineering process and allows the customer to utilize existing technology within the facility to aide in communication with building occupants through the LightAway dynamic lighting wayfinding system. Typical building systems that can be integrated into the LightAway system are:

LightAway Engineering

Once a building systems survey is complete, VS Energy works with the customer to design a customized LightAway dynamic lighting wayfinding system for the facility. LightAway consists of new or retrofitted color capable overhead lights, and control wiring that can communicate with the LightAway system. The LightAway controls and integration package interfaces with the lights individually to adjust color/intensity and generate dynamic and static lighting scenes, communicating to the occupants. VS Energy performs all programming for the LightAway system in-house and commissions the system to ensure proper operation.

LightAway Installation

​VS Energy installs, programs, commissions, and documents the LightAway system once all engineering is completed. After installation and commissioning, VS Energy provides training and support.
